Who are we?

Renaissance High School is an alternative high school with a committed staff, serving students in grades 9-12.  We believe that every person can learn and improve.  Because earning a diploma and planning for the future helps students reach their goals and earn higher wages, supporting students through this process is our priority.

More about Renaissance High School

All required curriculum for earning a Washington State High School Diploma is offered at Renaissance High School with options available for the foreign language requirement necessary to attend a 4-year University. Earning credit is based on a Standards Based Grading model as well as being able to earn credit at different programs in the county (ie West Sound Tech, Running Start, and being a shared student at Bremerton High School).

The Renaissance school year is divided into six terms of approximately 1.5 months in length. At the end of each term, students must meet with their Academic Advisor to gauge progress (the three A’s), review their schedule, and make adjustments if necessary. Failure to make academic progress can result in a loss of regularly scheduled classes, an Intervention Plan to work towards being Satisfactory, and/or loss of being able to remain at Renaissance High School. Academic Progress is determined based on the student meeting standards in two out of three classes knowing that attendance also plays an important role in being successful at school. Students build their class schedule based on meeting graduation requirements and the time their class meets (students have an oppurtunity to choose between AM/PM classes allowing flexibility to also partner with other academic programs like West Sound Tech, Running Start, JORTC, and/or other classes offered at Bremerton High School).

RHS Field Trip - Dec 2025

RHS Field trip to Seattle Central Community College

In December, 15 Renaissance High School students took a field trip to Seattle Central Community College (SCCC) to tour the campus and explore the culinary program ???‍??‍?. Students observed SCCC culinary students— including a former Mountain View Middle School student—preparing a variety of dishes and then enjoyed a fine dining experience created just for them. For some students, it was their first trip to Seattle, and for many, it was their first time experiencing fine dining. Students shared how meaningful it was to try new foods, be served at the table, and connect over a shared meal. This field trip supported RHS’s goal of increasing students’ hope about their future by providing new experiences, opportunities, and/or vocational placements that they hadn't considered before. Thank you to the Bremerton Schools and Alumni Foundation for the grant that made this college visit possible.
