SEND A MESSAGE

Good day Renaissance families. I am Mark Mayfield, principal of Renaissance High School. I joined the Bremerton School District in 2012, and was an assistant principal at Bremerton High School until 2021. Prior to coming to Bremerton, I was an assistant principal at North Kitsap High School and a teacher at University Place High School. I recognized early on that working with young people gives me purpose. Helping students explore their talents and challenge themselves keeps me focused on what’s important. It’s a young person's job to push boundaries as they discover who they are, and who they want to be. I feel privileged to walk that path with them. In my off hours, I hike, kayak, and spend time with family. I look forward to continuing my partnership with your family as the year progresses. I want to be available when you need me. Just reach out and we will move forward together.

Principal Perspectives

The Bremerton School District kicked off a new video series for the 2025-26 school year highlighting the perspectives of our school principals. 🎬 Each week via the District's Facebook and Instagram pages, our community gets an inside look at what makes our schools special, straight from the principals themselves.

We invite you to view Mark's latest Principal Perspective video.  You can view all of our Principal Perspective videos on the District's YouTube channel!

What makes RHS so special?

RHS staff

I love the way students and staff support each other's growth — intellectually, socially, and emotionally. I love the way our greater Bremerton community prioritizes students, despite all the other things that require our community members’ attention and resources. I love laughing with students, families, and colleagues when we're sharing the good times; I love working together to overcome the more difficult times. We have many students dealing with things that others don't encounter until much later in life. My favorite moments are when students realize they have the power to persevere — that they are important, capable, and cared about. That's when the real magic begins to happen. -Mark Mayfield, Principal
