The Bremerton School District is excited to welcome Amber Nygard as the new principal of Kitsap Lake Elementary!

“Throughout the search process, Mrs. Nygard stood out for her deep commitment to putting people first and her proven track record of supporting students and educators alike,” said Assistant Superintendent Brittane Debard. “She brings both the expertise and the heart needed to foster a thriving, inclusive culture at Kitsap Lake Elementary.”

Mrs. Nygard brings more than 23 years of experience in public education, most recently working as Executive District Director of Student Services for the North Mason School District.  

Amber began her career teaching middle school math in South Kitsap and Yakima before joining North Mason School District, where she taught middle school title math and served as instructional coach before becoming assistant principal at Sandhill Elementary. 

Throughout her career, her priority has remained clear: putting people first, supporting educators, and partnering closely with families to build a welcoming school culture where every student thrives.

Mrs. Nygard holds a B.A. in Elementary and Early Childhood Education from Central Washington University and a Master’s in Educational Leadership. Across every role, she is deeply committed to nurturing growth, inspiring achievement, and ensuring all learners have access to the support they need to succeed.

Mrs. Nygard and her husband live in Allyn and are the proud parents of three adult daughters. They are embarking on a new journey as empty nesters — though the house is far from quiet, thanks to their very spoiled Goldendoodle, Bumper, the family's self-appointed favorite child. Outside of school, Amber is happiest outdoors with family, friends, and Bumper.
